North central region’s tourist numbers increase sharply

Six provinces in the north central region (spanning from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue) have so far recorded 10.3 million tourist arrivals in 2012, up 12% against last year.

The tourism industry’s total revenue has increased 20% year-on-year.

Thua Thien-Hue, which hosts the 2012 National Tourism Year for the North Central region, has welcomed over 2.5 million arrivals, a 24.9% rise.

The number of foreign tourists traveling the region is almost at 803,000, up 24.5% against the same period in 2011.

The tourism industry has brought in VND4,470 billion to the imperial city of Hue.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism coordinated with localities to organize 30 major initiatives as part of the 2012 National Tourism Year for the North Central region.
The north central region has mobilized more than VND70 billion from social resources to fund the initiatives and reduce the state budget’s burdens.
