The study, funded by the French Development Agency, is a pilot model that could be widely expanded across Vietnam.
It is part of a wider support programme on the response to climate change, which was jointly initiated in 2009 by AFD and the Japan International Cooperation Agency. AFD has provided 60 million euros for the programme to date.
The agreement was signed prior to the eighteenth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 18), scheduled to take place on November 26 in Doha.
AFD has also provided 342.5 million euros for 12 projects on adaptation to climate change in Vietnam in the period between 2006-2012.
