Hanoi has just approved an administrative boundary shift as a sleight of hand attempt to add 2,360ha to its southern and western districts of Ha Dong, Thanh Xuan, Dong Da, Cau Giay and Tu Liem to improve the proportion of the city’s green space.

The expansion is aimed for the city to open more green space, including the construction of parks.
Hanoi will consider re-planning of existing industrial production areas in line with the new and modern urban development, prioritising the construction of large-scale works. The city will also build culture, sport and commercial high-rise buildings. The buildings are also expected to ease overly high population density in the inner-city areas.
The city will use land in Me Tri Commune, Tu Liem District, to build headquarters and offices for agencies and ministries.
Hanoi will boost the planning of satellite urban area projects in districts through monthly meetings between the local Department Planning and Architecture with investors to deal with any difficulties.
