The Adopt a Tree project has been funded by the Centre of Life and Learning for the Environment and Community, Plan International in Vietnam and Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID).
The project has been carried out by Club 350 Vietnam from September 24 through to December 15 at 10 primary schools in the capital city with the participation of 282 volunteers.
The project is expected to help primary students acquire a basic understanding about climate change and its impacts as well as encourage action to protect the environment.
To realise the target, 100 classes on climate change have been organised for 2,000 primary students in targeted schools. Students are also encouraged to paint their ideas on the theme of environmental protection.
When the project is completed, a painting exhibition will be held on January 6, 2013 to bring the pupil’s work to the public.
The same project was carried out in Hanoi for the first time in 2010. It included 20 classes on climate change in 20 primary schools and planted 1,000 trees to celebrate the capital’s millennium.
