Hanoi’s Department of Planning and Architecture said a parking lot will be built inside Thong Nhat Park with capacity to house 339 cars and 100 motorbikes.

The department said the parking lot will be situated near Tran Nhan Tong Street and include an underground area.
The 2,500 square metres underground car park will have three floors with an automated car parking system, while the 1,500 square metres parking above ground will accept cars, motorbikes and bicycles.
Hanoi Department of Transport said the parking lot will not only serve the people who go into the park but also the neighbourhood and limit street parking. Even the street level parking is temporary and will be removed gradually, returning the park to its currently unspoiled condition.
This project investors will also required to sign a commitment to protect the environment with Hai Ba Trung District People's Committee.
The Department of Construction asked for the project's scale, targets and designs so the parking lot will not affect the park's infrastructure such as underground water supplies and sewers.
If the local authorities approve the plan, Hanoi Department of Planning and Architecture will start on the project. The department also requested that the parking lot be added to plans to upgrade Thong Nhat Park.
