During the October 4-7 meeting, participants discuss the fields of law enforcement, anti-corruption initiatives, the reclamation of property, and international cooperation. Training and technical support as well as information collection, exchange, and analysis are also on the agenda.

Participants share their experiences in implementing the anti-corruption convention while pursuing economic development.

At the opening ceremony on October 4, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak, emphasised the serious threat corruption poses to all countries and the great efforts combating that threat demands of law enforcement agencies, independent experts, academics, and international organisations.

He announced Malaysia will donate around US$330,000 to the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) to finance its activities.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Le The Chien, a representative from the Government Inspectorate of Vietnam (GIV), reported the Vietnamese delegation is seeking to learn from the examples of international anti-corruption initiatives, particularly mentioning Malaysia and its new anti-corruption academy.

Anti-corruption work is actively pursued in Vietnam, he stated, adding that the GIV will submit its draft Anti-Corruption Law, at the next meeting of the National Assembly.

Chien also noted the Law on Complaints and Denouncements and the Law on Inspection were successfully promulgated and are now in effect. He hopes that with these laws future anti-corruption work will make more progress.
