Land and land clearance a cause for complaint

Land and land clearance made up 75 percent of all complaints and denunciations received by Hanoi's People's Committee in the first nine month of the year, said its vice chairman Nguyen Huy Tuong in a last month's brief meeting with district authorities in Hanoi.

Complaints on land clearance are becoming popular

Most of the complaints and denunciations come from such districts as Long Bien, Ha Dong, Tu Liem, Soc Son, Dong Anh, Quoc Oai, Thanh Oai, Phu Xuyen, among others.

Tuong said those districts were rapidly developing making them difficult for authorities to monitor and this has resulted in a leap in complaints.

He added the lack of complete laws and policies on land and land clearance was also causing complaints and confusion.

According to Long Bien district People's Committee chairman Do Manh Hai, investors mistakes during their land clearance process have led to many of the issues.

Hanoi People's Committee Chairman Nguyen The Thao said district authorities must have direct dialogue with people to settle any complaints and avoid further tensions.
