Despite his family not having a family history in the industry, they all cook really well.

When Khai realised his love for cooking after three months studying as a mechanic, he put everything aside and followed his dream. He worked at a restaurant in San Francisco for three years later and studied further in France and the US.

He was a top graduate at the French Cordon Bleu Academie, owner of the Ana Mandara high class restaurant in San Francisco where many Hollywood stars such as Sean Penn, Will Smith and Sharon Stone frequent.

Now Khai wants to promote Vietnamese food to the world.

He and friends established Asia Chef Association and Chefs Without Borders which he sits in the board of directors of. His groups are dedicated to feeding body and soul by providing food and clean water as well as other necessities. They have provided 3,000 free meals for homeless and poor people, people in natural disaster.

In Vietnam, during the trips searching for ingredients, he and the Asia Chef Association sponsored 30 scholarships for students at the Saigon Tourism Vocational School, helping girls in the southern region who were the victim of human trafficking.

Khai is planning to open a culinary school for young chefs, especially poor or homeless people with a talent for cooking.
