Vietnam will remain among the Asia Pacific region’s top ten countries for having the most attractive investment environment in the next three to five years.
PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has just released their CEO APEC 2012 survey conducted between June and August in which 376 CEOs and experts in 40 countries, including 21 APEC members were interviewed.
According to the survey, Vietnam will be ranked ninth among the most appealing investment destinations for companies which have main headquarters in fast-growing economies in the next three to five years.
Vietnam will also rank eleventh in terms of foreign direct investment during the next three to five years.
The survey indicated that the economic downturn in the US and the Euro-zone as well as China’s slower economic growth to below 7.5% have affected CEO trust in the Asia Pacific region.
Among those interviewed, only 36% of CEOs believed in business growth possibilities in the next year, meanwhile up to 54% believed they would achieve the better business performance in the next three to five years.
The survey results disclosed that in the next three to five years, China and the US would be their first choice for investment. Natural resource-rich nations such as Russia, Indonesia and Australia and service hubs like Hong Kong and Japan would also attract their attention.
Around 40% of CEOs said ASEAN and Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership (TPP) and free trade agreements would have a considerable impact on their companies.
To attract talents, CEOs would apply more competitive salary policies and implement human resource training courses and improved work place employment policies. They will also offer more chances for their staff to work abroad.
