Participants to the event will be encouraged to raise funds for needy people by making direct donations on the day.
David Shin, Director of Sporting Republic, a Hong Kong based independent sport management agency and organizer of the vertical run, said, “INSPIRE Sports is a perfect fit for our official charity partner as we hope to both support people with disabilities in Vietnam and showcase the power of sports to greatly improve people’s quality of life.”
“We are thrilled to be part of the Landmark 72 Hanoi Vertical Run,” said Van Ly, of East Meets West Foundation (EMW) Regional Communications and Development Manager. “We appreciate that Sporting Republic is taking a community-centered approach with this event and thank them for choosing EMW’s INSPIRE Sports Programme as the focus of their charitable giving.”
According to EMW -- the official charity partner of the vertical run in Hanoi, Vietnam has around 5.3 million people living with disabilities and their access to social welfare and community services is limited.
In October last year, the first vertical run in Vietnam was held in the Ho Chi Minh City’s Bitexo Financial Tower. The German man and world’s defending champion of vertical run, Thomas Dold crowned the title after finishing 1,002 steps to reach the 49th floor in less than five minutes.
