The decision came after the Wednesday meeting between Thang, representatives of relevant state aviation agencies, and VJA on the incident.
After reviewing the show’s video clips which were posted on the Internet and listening to the explanation from VJA, CAAV representatives analyzed the wrong points in organizing such event on a flight to VJA representatives.
Thang said VJA got the fines as it had violated the local aviation regulations by organizing unapproved show on a plane.
When being asked if VJA had also violated aviation safety regulation for letting passengers using camera phones to record the 3-minute show, Thang said since the phones were used in movie mode only, they did not affect flight safety.
In addition, the plane had already reached its safe altitude before the time the show occurred, he said.
VJA last Friday hosted the bikini show, which was called a Hawaiian dance performance, on its flight from Ho Chi Minh City to the coastal city of Nha Trang with the participation of many young girls who are the contestants of a local beauty pageant, Miss Ngoi Sao.
The show has stirred up the public opinions after its photos and short clips were spread on the Internet, via the social network Facebook and YouTube since Sunday.
The contest is co-hosted by newswire Vnexpress and VJA.
VJA officially announced its operation on December 2, 2011, marking its participation in budget air service in Vietnam. It is the fifth air carrier after Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar Pacific, Air Mekong and Vasc
