The contest is open for students aged from 18 to 28 in Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam who can submit a portfolio of their work and a motivational essay on making the film by July 27.
A jury of film, television and environmental experts in each country will select three national works among the entries and consult with the creators to complete the documentaries. Each film, which must not exceed 10 minute in length, will receive a budget of $500 to be finished by November 9 to compete at the regional round.
The three regional winners will later be decided on by an international jury and receive a cash prize of $500 each. The top winner will receive $5,000 to produce a feature length documentary in 2013.
The finale results are scheduled to be announced on December 10.
