A new circular issued by the Ministry of Education and Training will require professors at music and art schools to teach a maximum 440 hours a year.

Teachers in these fields would have to guide students in preparing their theses, help to design new, experimental curricula, as well as produce, design and perform works of their own, depending on their specialties.
Professors and senior lecturers will have to teach from 360-440 hours a year, while associate professors and main lecturers will have to put in from 320-400 hours. Other lecturers will work from 280-360 hours.
Each working day will be no more than three hours.
Teachers who have higher salaries will have more teaching hours but not in excess 460.
The circular will take effect on July 16.
