| A fee collector guides a driver to take a magnetic card from the dispenser at an entrance of the expressway |
The fee will be collected by the State-owned Cuu Long Transport Infrastructure Management, Investment and Development Corporation, under a decision by the Ministry of Transport, as of 8 am today.
The Corp has set up 4 fee collection stations in Cho Dem, Than Cuu Nghia, Ben Luc and Tan An, where drivers are required to stop to obtain a magnetic pass from a dispenser before beginning their journeys.
The pass will record the number plate, time of entry and time of receipt.
When reaching an outlet on the expressway, drivers will present their passes to a fee collector who will have them read by a card reader and vouchers will then be printed out for the drivers to make payment.
The voucher will show the amount payable and the distance the vehicle has covered.
It takes just 20 seconds for payment, the Corp said.
According to Circular 14 issued by the Finance Ministry, the fees for using the entire length of the expressway range from VND10,000 to VND320,000 (US$0.48-15.3), depending on the vehicles’ types and loading capacities.
Meanwhile, for vehicles using only part of the expressway, the fee rates will be calculated based on the unit price per kilometer, ranging from VND1,000 to VND8,000 per kilometer, depending on the vehicles’ types and loading capacities.
Under the Circular, 93 percent of the fee revenue will be contributed to in the State budget and the rest will be used to cover expenses related to fee collection activities.
