As much as 42% of the female shoppers in Hanoi are aged between 17-25, and they mostly care about fashion, entertainment and film-going at the shopping centres.
The 26-35 age group mostly have stable and high-income jobs.
Customers aged over 46 mainly buy high-quality and luxury products. Their average spending for high-end fashion on each shopping can reach USD2,500 and they usually go shopping in foreign countries.
Spending on branded and high-quality products by Vietnamese people is forecast to increase by 5% per year.
The Vietnamese retail sector will see an annual growth rate of 13.6% with the highest revenues earned from cosmetics, fashion and household goods during the 2008-2012 period.
Hanoi, with a total population of 4.3 million aged between 15-65, is an attractive retail market, and the city is expected to have one more million young consumers in the next ten years.
