Nha Xa silk village

Since the early 20th century, Nha Xa silk in the northern province of Ha Nam, has been called “the first runner-up of Vietnamese silk”, only behind Van Phuc silk.

Like Van Phuc silk village in Ha Dong district, Hanoi, visitors will hear the sound of 
power-looms when they enter the village.

Mrs. Y’s family has pursued this traditional trade for four generation. Her children
 precede the trade, with broader production scale.

Nha Xa silk village has 230 families, totaling nearly 800 people. Around 350 villagers
 are major laborers, who run nearly 200 power-looms. Many households both produce and trade silk.

Nha Xa silk is still manually dyed. Temperature and time are the 
secret for the nice and fast colors of silk.

Creating patterns on silk during the dying period is also a secret.
