Dantri/DTiNews was awarded the Prime Minister’s certificate of merit 

Kieu Dinh Thu, the Government Office’s Vice Chairman, presented the certificates to the newspaper and its editor-in-chief, Pham Huy Hoan, on January 8 in Hanoi.

Nguyen Manh Cam, Chairman of Vietnam Study Encouragement Fund, praised Dantri/DTinews for its active contribution to encouraging academic excellence and the promotion of talented individuals nationwide.

On the occasion, Cam conferred the fund’s “Excellent worker” certificates of merit on three Dantri’s employees including Editor in Chief Pham Huy Hoan, Deputy Editor in Chief Nguyen Luong Phan and Managing Editor Pham Tuan Anh.

Another nine employees of the newspaper also received the fund’s awards for their contributions to study encouragement efforts in 2011.

“Dantri/DTiNews has become one of the top online newspapers in Vietnam with both Vietnamese and English versions. It is renowned for its social and charitable activities,” Cam said.

Editor in Chief Pham Huy Hoan said , “Three years ago, Dantri recorded 30 million page views per week but the figure has quadrupled to over 120 million page views per week now. This success is based on the contributions of every Dantri employee.”

Hoan emphasised the newspaper’s interactivity with its readers via its popular daily blog section, a feature the paper continues to expand.

He added that through reader donations, the newspaper had helped distribute around VND2 billion (USD95,075) a month to less fortunate people.
