It has been confirmed by the sole survivor of the Vinalines Queen ship that there was a shipwreck in a remote part of the ocean.
The Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) told DTiNews on the afternoon of December 30, that the shipwreck occurred about 350 kilometres away from the area where it had finally lost communication.

The other 22 crew members of the accident are presumed dead. Dau Ngoc Hung, 31, was the sole known survivor, and was rescued by a British ship. Hung is from Nghe An Province and is being transported to Singapore.
Through Nguyen Anh Vu, the General Director of Vietnam MRCC, DTiNews got an exclusive phone interview with Hung, who said that the ship was leaning to the left before it was sunk.
“The whole thing happened so fast that we could only find one life preserver. That's what I used to save my life. The 22 other crew members just sank into the water,” Hung shared.
Vietnam MRCC plans to continue and even intensify their search for the missing ship, as well as the crew members.
The centre has sent messages for help to Japan, Taiwan, China and the Philippines to aid in these efforts.
