As of January 9, 2012, many activities will be held in HCM City to welcome overseas Vietnamese who return home for the lunar New Year (Tet holiday).

From January 9 to February 7, the city will send volunteers to the Tan Son Nhat International Airport to welcome and assist overseas Vietnamese.
On the evening of January 17, 2012, the city’s officials will meet with overseas Vietnamese at the town hall. This is the chance for local officials to listen to overseas Vietnamese’s opinions and aspirations. At this meeting, overseas Vietnamese who have positively contributed to the home country will be rewarded.
The Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in HCM City will combine with related agencies to organize overseas Vietnamese delegations to visit outstanding projects in the city.
A writing contest entitled “Vietnam – My Country” for overseas Vietnamese will be held.
The city authorities will pay visit to some outstanding overseas Vietnamese.
The city has assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to cooperate with the HCM City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese to hold music shows to serve overseas Vietnamese.
The HCM City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese will also send its representatives to Cambodia to present medicine and Tet gifts to 400 needy Vietnamese there.
