Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will consider the establishment of the National Vietnam Airlines Group after assessing results of the pilot implementation programme of the economic group model

The programme has been carried out since 2005 under the resolution of 9th Party Congress.

The PM has just instructed wholly state-owned Vietnam Airlines to restructure between 2011 and 2015, after which the state will hold more than 50% of the company's charter capital.

Vietnam Airlines will be allowed to retain its 100% stake in Vietnam Airlines Engineering Company (Vaeco). The national flag carrier is also required to equitise the Vietnam Air Petrol Co. Ltd (Vinapco) and retain over 50% of Vinapco’s registered capital after the restructuring.

Vietnam Airlines is permitted to decide what proportion of its Noi Bai International, Danang Airport, and Tan Son Nhat International Airport ground services affiliates it wishes to retain.

The Government leader requested Vietnam Airlines to submit its restructuring plan for Vietnam Air Services Company (Vasco) and all aircraft purchase projects from now until the end of this year.

The Ministry of Transport has been ordered to cooperate with other ministries and agencies to instruct Vietnam Airlines to submit its equitisation plan to the PM for consideration.
