Gas explosion kills two children in Hanoi

Two children died and their parents seriously injured as their house collapsed after a gas cylinder exploded in Hanoi.

Two children died after their two-storey house collapsed early this morning (November 3) after a gas cylinder exploded in Hanoi.

The accident happened at the house located in Alley 22, Ta Quang Buu Street in Hai Ba Trung District. It took rescuers nearly five hours to remove the body of seven-year-old Tran Duy Anh out of the debris and more than six hours to find his older sister Tran Ngoc Tam, 15.

Their injured father Tran Nhat Minh and mother Nguyen Thi Thu Ngan were earlier pulled out of the wreckage and taken to Saint Paul Hospital.

According to initial investigations, the explosion was caused by a leaking gas cylinder, which blew up when the parents were preparing breakfast, collapsing the house.
