An official from Vietnam Export Import Bank (Eximbank) falsified five sets of document bearing customer names to embezzle VND3.97 billion (USD189,952).
Colonel Dao Hong Lap, Head of Nghe An Province’s Economic Police Board, said they were investigating Dang Nam Hai’s actions. The bank official, 32, was former head of the personal customer and appraisal department of Eximbank’s Nghe An Province branch.
Evidence of documents that Hai forged this year bearing the names of four customers applying for loans from the branch currently exist.
Aware that his actions would be discovered sooner or later, Hai admitted his guilt on October 22.
Colonel Lap said “the management of loan activities of a number of commercial banks remains lax, creating opportunities for fraud and embezzlement; we’re investing Hai’s case.”
