Police in the central province of Thua Thien Hue detected that hundreds of passenger bus drivers have been using fake driver\'s licenses.

According to the provincial traffic police, they have found and seized around 250 fake documents, including more than 200 phony licenses from bus drivers travelling along National Highway No. 1A, since 2009.
Most of these fake licenses came from cross-country bus drivers. Those from Nghe An Province topped the list, with 10 offenders.
The unlicensed bus drivers used any technology they had access to in order to falsify stamps and signatures of authorities. Some used real driver\'s licenses, but changed personal information.
According to police, it is difficult to recognise a fake license with just a glance.
Some of these drivers said that they had bought their fake licenses along the road from vendors.
Phony driver\'s licences can cost some million VND, and require some preparation, such as a copy of personal identity cards and a 3x4 photo.
According to regulations, applicants for passenger vehicle licences need to be high school graduates and aged 27 or older.
