Vietnam's new cabinet inaugurated

The National Assembly approved PM Nguyen Tan Dung’s nominations for new cabinet, which was inaugurated on Wednesday.

The Vietnamese National Assembly approved Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s nominations for cabinet members this moring August 3. The new cabinet was immediately inaugurated and started its term.

The Government cabinet personnel in the new term

The list of nominees for the new 2011-16 term includes four Deputy Prime Ministers and 18 ministers and heads of four minister-level agencies.

All the nominees received over 50% of votes. Pham Thi Hai Chuyen nominated as Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, passed through with the lowest margin, at 62.3%, while Phung Quang Thanh, nominated as Minister of Defense got the highest, with 97.4%.

All National Assembly delegates agreed on the resolution for the government cabinet in the new term.

The Vietnamese Government reduced the number of Deputy Prime Ministers in the 2011-2016 term from five to four, namely:

1. Vu Van Ninh: with the ballot rate of 81.8%

2. Nguyen Xuan Phuc: 96.2%

3. Hoang Trung Hai: 93.8%

4. Nguyen Thien Nhan: 91.6%

Ministers:

1. Minsiter of Defense Phung Quang Thanh: 97.4%

2. Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang: 95%

3. Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh: 90%

4. Minister of Home Affairs Nguyen Thai Binh: 87.4%

5. Minister of Justice Ha Hung Cuong: 96.2%

6. Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh 87.4%

7. Minister of Finance Vuong Dinh Hue: 90.2%

8. Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang 91%

9. Minister of Agricultural and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat: 93.6%

10. Minister of Transport: Dinh La Thang: 71.2%

11. Minister of Construction Trinh Dinh Dung: 92.2%

12. Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Minh Quang 80.8%

13. Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son 90.4%

14. Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Pham Thi Hai Chuyen: 62.3%

15. Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh 81%

16. Minister of Science and Technoloy Nguyen Quan: 92.8%

17. Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan: 74.4%

18. Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien: 79.2%

Heads of four ministerial-level agencies:

1. Minister, Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs Giang Seo Phu: 96%

2. Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Nguyen Van Binh: 92%

3. Government Inspector General Huynh Phong Tranh: 91.2%

4. Minister, Chairman of the Government Office Vu Duc Dam: 92.6%

Speaking at the ceremony to introduce the new cabinet, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said the key task in the new term is dealing with weaknesses in the national economic reform process and successfully implementing the 2011-2015 social-economic development plan.

The initial priorities of the Government are to focus on curbing inflation, ensure social security and provide more care for the poor and low-income groups.

He also noted that the Government will ensure national security and sovereignty, and raise the national status in the global arena.
