The Hanoi People’s Court concluded the trial of the gang on June 10. The gang led by Dao Thi Thu Huong, also known as My "Soi" (My "The Wolf"), 15, and her lover Trinh Thang Long, 19, included six other defendants aged between 18 and 20, each facing from four to 30 years in prison.

Hoang Trong Dat and Le Quang Vinh were sentenced to 30 years each.

Three defendants Nguyen Xuan Thang (18), Nguyen Duc Hoang and Au The Doan, both 19, were sentenced to 18 years in prison each and Tran Hoang Nam was sentenced four years for robbery.

According to the Hanoi Supreme People’s Procuracy, My Soi had joined Hanoi’s criminal underworld. To raise money everyday, My Soi would befriend young girls and then entice them to go clubbing or shopping.

When the girls agreed to meet, My Soi and her gang would rob them and then rape them. They used film footage of the rapes to blackmail the abused women. My Soi would threaten the women with a knife if they refused to co-operate.

On July 16, 2010, My Soi and her boyfriend Trinh Thang Long and three other gang members robbed a VND300,000 (USD14.55) mobile phone of a woman who they took to a guesthouse to rape.

On the following day, My Soi and her accomplices raped Y. and stole her mobile phone.

Between July 16-20 2010, My Soi’s gang raped two women and one child and stole property valued at over VND30 million (USD1,455).
