This is the first time the VNUH majors have ever been listed in the rankings.
VNUH gets the highest average score among 5 Vietnamese colleges listed in the rankings; the other 4 include the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, Hue University, Can Tho University, and University of Danang.
The rankings are formulated on the basis of research quality, teaching quality, and international reputation of the ranked universities.
VNUH is also among eight Vietnamese schools currently standing in the top 100 universities in Southeast Asia, January statistics from the 2011 Webometrics Ranking of World Universities show.
The other 7 are the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Can Tho University, Nong Lam University, An Giang University, Hanoi University of Agriculture, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City.
The "Webometrics Ranking of World Universities" is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, the largest public research body in Spain.
Vietnam has set a target to put one university in the world’s top 200 universities by 2020.
