Remote locations in Nghe An go to the polls early

Due to inhospitable terrain, residents in some places in Nghe An Province went to the polls on May 20, two days earlier than the official date set for the rest of the country.

Voters went to the polls in the Mong ethnic highland village of Huoi Son (Tam Hop Commune, Tuong Duong District).

Va Y Kia, 30, said, “We have eagerly anticipated the election and are happy to use the opportunity to choose the best candidates to improve local living conditions.”

Tam Hop communal Party Committee Secretary Lo Dinh Nui said the village had 221 voters on the electoral roll.

Luong Thi Thu Ha, 23, shared, “This is the first time that I’ve had the honour to participate in such an event. I hope through our vote in the local elections we’ll end up with the best candidates.”

Chairman of Tuong Duong District People’s Committee Nguyen Ho Canh said, a total of eight communes in the district had conducted elections on May 20.

In Nghe An Province as a whole, 219 polling stations with 49,000 voters in 31 communes in four districts already having concluded their voting.
