A delegation from the Party Central Committee, the State, the National Assembly, the Government and the Fatherland Front of Vietnam paid floral tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his Mausoleum in Hanoi on May 18.
This was part of activities to celebrate President Ho’s 121st birth anniversary (May 19).
The delegation included National Assembly Chairman and Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Nguyen Minh Triet, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Huynh Dam, Politburo member and Standing member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam Truong Tan Sang, former Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu, former State President Tran Duc Luong, former National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Van An, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Pham The Duyet, as well as members of the Political Bureau, Deputy Prime Ministers, National Assembly vice chairmen, leaders of ministries and central agencies, and revolutionary veterans.
The delegation also laid a wreath at the monument to Vietnamese martyrs who laid down their lives for the independence and freedom of the nation.
Also on the morning of May 18, other delegations from the Ministries of Defence, Public Security and Foreign Affairs, and the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee, the Hanoi municipal Party’s Committee and Fatherland Front also paid floral tribute to President Ho Chi Minh.
On the same day, a tree-planting ceremony was launched at the Hung Kings Memorial in Ho Chi Minh City.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan underscored the significance of tree planting, saying that the city aims to increase the forest coverage by more than 40 percent in the near future.
