Mr. Shepherd and Mr. Derral Moriyama, BOM Bank of Montreal’s Senior Vice President of Commercial Banking, had a meeting with Nguyen Duc Kien, Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly, on March 16 in Hanoi.

Vietnam has emerged as one of the most attractive consumption markets in the world. It has a young population and fast economic growth, the Northstar CEO added at the meeting.

Vice Chairman Kien affirmed that Vietnam is always willing to cooperate with organisations worldwide for the development. Vietnam and Canada has a long and fruitful relationship and the two-side social and political stability is an important foundation to boost the cooperation between Vietnamese and Canadian enterprises.

Kien wished the Canadian delegation to have a successful trip in Vietnam and expected it to sign cooperative agreements with Vietnamese partners on different areas, including food safety and technology areas during the stay.

Northstar Trade Finance specialises in supporting export activities and providing credit for Canadian firms. It has set up many offices in many countries, including the US, Australia and New Zealand.

According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment, Canadian companies pledged to invest a total USD4.3 billion into 103 projects in Vietnam by late February this year.
