Vietnam neither joined nor sent observers to the 2011 Cobra Gold military exercise in Thailand, a spokesman for the Defence Ministry has affirmed.

The spokesman, Major General Nguyen Thanh Tuan, on February 10 reiterated that Vietnam’s consistent policy of “not joining any military alliance”.
The Cobra Gold drill has been held bilaterally by the US and Thailand since 1982.
