Gas traders in Vietnam raised retail gas prices by VND38,000 (USD1.9) per 12-kg canister from today (December 1), the highest price so far this year.

Consumers face another rise in gas prices |
A 12-kg cylinder of Shell Gas is sold at VND389,000 (USD19.45); while Petrolimex increased prices of a 12-kg canister to VND376,000 (USD18.8) and a 13-kg canister to over VND400,000 (USD20).
Thang Long Gas rose by VND38,000 (USD1.9) to VND350,000 (USD17.5) per 12-kg cylinder.
Notably, a 12-kg canister of PetroVietnam is priced at VND359,000 (USD17.95), up VND40,000 (USD2) against the early November price of VND319,000 (USD15.95).
The rise is steadying around VND38,000 per a 12-kg canister in the southern market, but gas prices are still ranging from VND15,000 (USD0.75) and VND55,000 (USD2.75) per canister lower than those of the north.
Gas prices on the world market for December have risen USD140 per tonne to USD925 per tonne, driving up the domestic prices, according to traders.
Since mid-August, customers have witnessed five consecutive gas price increases with the latest rise early in November at VND25,000 (USD1.28) per 12-kg canister.
