The laws on insurance business and securities are among new laws approved by the National Assembly on November 24.

National Assembly deputies passed amendments and supplements to the amended law on insurance business and the amended securities law, which will take effect on July 1, 2011, the amended law on electing NA and People’s Council members, which will be effective as of January 1, 2011, and the amended administrative litigation law and a resolution on implementing the law; and a resolution on exempting and reducing taxes for agricultural land.
Up to 414 NA deputies, accounting for 83.98% of the total deputy number, approved the Law on Insurance Business which includes some important contents such as cooperation, competition and bidding in insurance business as well as the Reserve Fund and the Insured Protection Fund.
The Securities Law, with supplements in private offering and information disclosure by public companies, was approved by 82.56% of deputies. The National Assembly Standing Committee asked the government and concerned agencies of the National Assembly to continue studying the proposals from deputies to perfect the law which has come into effect for over three years.
The majority of deputies agreed with amendments and supplements of Law on Election of NA Deputies and Election of Members of the People\'s Council, but proposed further revisions to make these two laws more comprehensive.
A number of deputies proposed regulations on suffrage and candidature rights of overseas Vietnamese; making public assets of National Assembly candidates; increasing the number of people’s council deputies in Hanoi which was merged with the old province of Ha Tay and several communes in Hoa Binh Province and Vinh Phuc Province’s Me Linh District.
A number of contents in the Administrative Litigation Law passed include complaints within the competence of courts and petitions to review decisions by Judges at the People\'s Supreme Court.
Regarding the resolution to exempt and reduce taxes for agricultural land from the 2011-2020 period, deputies approved some contents such as beneficiaries offered with agricultural land tax exemptions and reduction and time for these priorities.
