Over 90,000 needy Khmer households in provinces and cities of the Mekong River Delta have been provided with houses for the past five years.
This resulted from the five-year implementation of the Government’s programme to assist needy ethnic people with houses, land for production and a supply of potable water.
More than 5,000 Khmer households have been allocated land to build houses, 7,000 households have been provided with agricultural land and thousands of labourers have been offered vocational training, jobs or business loans.
Thanks to the programme, the material and spiritual lives of Khmer people has improved considerably. More than 80% of households have audio-visual facilities, 70% have a safe, clean water supply and 80% have electricity.
