Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai assisted in handing over relief goods and money to the most flood-affected commune of Ha Tinh Province.
On October 7, the Deputy Prime Minister along with the central rescue teams and local leaders came to Phuong My Commune, Huong Khe District, Ha Tinh Province to assist victims and provide relief.
The commune currently has over 5,000 people and all of their houses are covered with seawater.
Hai, living in Hamlet 4 said sadly, “My house has been isolated for nearly one week. We are living on our roof and waiting for assistance. Our biggest issues are that we can’t cook and do not have fresh water to use.”
Witnessing the actual circumstance of people here, the Deputy Prime Minister was moved and sympathised with their difficulties and hardships.
Binh, an 80-year-old woman, living at Hamlet 7, Phuong My Commune, was moved to tears when Hai’s team came to her house and provided some help.
Despite fast-flowing water, hundreds of people tried to ride boats to meet rescue teams for assistance. They were very happy to get noodles and fresh water.
Ten hamlets of Phuong My Commune were handed over nearly 1,000 boxes of noodles and 500 water bottles.
During the trip, on behalf of leaders of the Party and State, the Deputy Prime Minister paid regards and shared his concerns with all victims of the natural disaster.

After visiting the commune, the team came to check Ho Ho hydropower plant at Huong Hoa Commune, Tuyen Hoa District, Quang Binh Province.
Next, they will head to Quang Binh, which was also was also devastated by floods.
According to the Flood and Storm Prevention Board of Ha Tinh Prevention, there are 8 deaths, 1 missing and 3 injuries at the whole province. Over 26,000 houses were flooded. Nearly 2,000 houses were collapsed and damaged. Nearly 100 schools were flooded. The initial damage is estimated to be nearly VND850 trillion ($43,265,400,000). The province expects to be supported 5,000 tonnes of rice and VND500 billion ($25,450,200) to resolve issues caused by the natural disaster. |
