A competition to find “Excellent waiters” was held in Thua Thien-Hue Province to promote Vietnam’s tourism image.
The competition was organised to enhance tourism service quality and attract more tourists to Vietnam.
The competition for waiters has been held regularly in the world for many years in a bid to demonstrate an image of a region or an interesting tourism destination in addition to create competitiveness and exchange skills among waiters and waitresses from hotels.
Paul Stoll, managing director of Celadon International, initiated this idea in Vietnam.
The competition was held jointly by Tourism Association of Thua Thien – Hue Province, Department of Culture, Sports & Tourism of Thua Thien – Hue Province and Celadon Palace Hotel.
There were a total of 83 participants from 18 large hotels in Hue, Da Nang, Hoi An and other Vietnamese cities.
The competition had two forms. One was designated for individuals and the second was for pairs. Participants had to race 100 metres without spilling water over their tray.
