Hunting elephants for tail hair has boomed in Daklak Province, which is famous for elephant taming, because people believe that luck will come to those who wear elephant-tail-hair-made jewelry.

An elephant tail hair is priced around VND200,000. An elephant tail has around 1000 hairs, worth around VND200 million. Thus, domesticated and wild elephants in the Central Highland provinces are in danger.

This is the third case in the past year in Dalat.
