At the conference, the British Ambassador addressed the latest information on bilateral relations between the two nations and the upcoming visit of Vietnam’s deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem to the United Kingdom to sign important documents regarding cooperation between the two countries.
"We are really looking forward to Deputy PM Pham Gia Khiem’s visit to the UK,” said Mark Kent at the conference, “The United Kingdom and Vietnam are building a strategic cooperation which will cover such issues as political cooperation, global and regional issues, trade and investment, sustainable socio-economic development, education and training, science and technology, security and defense, and the linking of the two nations’ peoples.”
The ambassador also highlighted some new features on the diplomatic policies and development fund policies of the new United Kingdom government. “The UK wants to boost ties with all Asian countries in general and Vietnam in particular.
Vietnam is quickly recovering after the world economic crisis and is showing an active role in the world arena,” shared Ambassador Kent.
Mark Kent also took the opportunity to introduce a “See Britain through my eyes” campaign. "See Britain through my eyes" is a government campaign implemented by the Foreign Office which aims to promote the best of modern Britain ahead of the London 2012 Olympics.
