The roofs of local homes and factories in Hanoi were ripped off during a sudden tornado that ripped through Trang Viet Commune, Me Linh District.
In all, 110 roofs were swept away by by the 5-minute tornado which also injured seven. Two are in serious condition and had to be taken to the hospital.
According to Nguyen Van Kho, Chairman of Trang Viet Commune People’s Committee, it suddenly turned dark at 11.20 and a strong tornado started spinnning, blowing off tiled roofs of hundreds of houses.
Many locals said that it was the strongest tornado they’d ever seen. The wind pulled out closed doors and windows and blew tiles 20-30 metres up in the sky.
The roof of Nguyen Thi Tham’s family was blown away. She was injured and being treated in hospital.
