A logo and slogan contest has been launched to promote and characterise tourism in Vietnam.
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) is calling on local and foreign individuals and organizations to join in the contest. The winner’s submission will be used for marketing activities of the country’s tourism industry from 2011-2015 according too said Nguyen Manh Cuong, Deputy Director General of VNAT at a press conference held today in Hanoi.
As a chairman of the conference, Cuong presented the strategy for the local tourism industry over the 2010-2020 period. VNAT is aiming for a 10-15% increase in foreign visitors and a 15-18% increase in domestic tourists.
“We need a new logo and slogan which best shows the strength of Vietnam’s tourism as well as expresses our strategy for tourism development in this period,” Cuong said. He also says that Vietnam is focusing on promoting and developing sea tourism which is one of the biggest potentials of the local tourism industry.
According to Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong, deputy head of VNAT\'s Marketing Department, the general requirements for the work entries include showing the prominent strength of Vietnam’s tourism, must be impressive, harmonious in colours, and use Vietnamese and English separately.
The criteria for selecting the new logo and slogan will be based on the unique idea, creativity, coverage, and impact on viewers.
The first prize will receive VND 50 million in cash, second prize equivalent to VND30 and third prize VND20 million.
In 2005, VNAT chose “Vietnam - the Hidden Charm” as the slogan along with a new logo for the national tourism industry’s action plan for the 2006-2010 period.
“Now we have turned a new corner and we need a new image,” Cuong said.
Entries for the contest can be sent from August 25 to December 15. All entries should be submitted to:
