Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai received Russia’s Minister of Economic Development Elvira Sakhipzadovna Nabiullina, in Hanoi on August 23 with hopes for strengthening cooperation during her visit.
Mr. Hai said he hoped the two nations could expand cooperation to more fields like mechanics, chemistry, and pharmaceutics, as well as offering Russia more opportunities in the Southeast Asian market.
The Vietnam-Russia relationship will flourish in the future, he said, especially when both countries are doing their best for the approval of a bilateral free trade agreement.
The Deputy PM said Vietnam always considered Russia its strategic partner in energy with a number of joint projects carried out effectively. He also wanted to promote cooperation in a nuclear power project.
Mrs. Nabiullina highly praised Mr. Hai’s contribution to the development of the bilateral cooperation. She stressed that two-way trade has seen significant increases despite the global financial crisis and economic downturn.
The Minister was delighted at the implementation of major projects in energy and banking and said energy will continue to be the priority in the Vietnam-Russia relationship.
