The Hanoi Alcohol, Beer and Beverage Joint Stock Corporation (Habeco) inaugurated the Hanoi – Me Linh Brewery on August 15.
The nearly VND 2.2 trillion (US$118 million) brewery is equipped with advanced technology and modern equipment provided by Germany’s Krones firm.
It is one of the largest breweries in Southeast Asia.
The first phase of the brewery was completed in July 2009 with a capacity of 100 million litres of beers per year. The capacity was raised to 200 million litres per year after the second phase of the plant was completed. This contributed to raising Habeco’s capacity to 605 million litres of beer in 2010 from 403 million litres in 2009.
The brewery is one of the constructions to mark the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi.
