Vietnam to launch mobile vehicle tester

Some 26 staffs of the Vietnam Register are under training to operate the mobile vehicle testing devices that have been imported from Germany, said Ngo Ngoc Son, deputy director of the Motor Vehicle Technical Safety Inspection Department.

The device, funded by the World Bank, is part of the national traffic safety project to check vehicles in remote areas without registration agencies. The two devices worth around 700,000 euro are provided by Germany’s Maha Group.

The facilities are equipped with advanced technologies including generators, office cabin, Wi-Fi network and printers. It can be transported in a container.

The 15-ton device also includes hydraulic system for container elevation and approach road for vehicles.

The device can check vehicles in 15 to 30 minutes with high accuracy that is equivalent to a registration station, Son said. It also can check exhaust gas from vehicles given cooperation of traffic police.

The two devices will be placed in the North and South to check vehicles in hinterlands.
