Cover your rear: hot motorbike seats could be harmful for genitals

The hot temperature is not only uncomfortable but it could cause harm to your rear and your genitals.

Motorcycle seats sitting in the blazing sun is like sitting in a frying pan for commuters. The hot temperature is not only uncomfortable but it could cause harm to your rear and your genitals.

Sitting on motorbikes that have been out in the hot weather may harm your genitals.

Nam, 23, working for a gas firm on Tan Mai Street, in Hanoi said that he was worried about his “private parts” whenever he had to deliver gas tanks on very hot summer days.

Ngo Van Hau, 30, a marketing staff says that he has to travel around a lot during the day. He shares the same concerns with Nam so he bought a seat with a cooling system worth VND300,000 ($15.7) but it is still ineffective against the grueling heat.

This is not just a concern for men but also for women. Pham Thanh Nhung, working on Ba Trieu Street, always feels distressed when her motorbike is under the sun. Its seat temperature reaches over 50 degrees Celsius. She always uses a small blanket to cover her seat before sitting on it.

Hien, working on Giai Phong Road often cools off her seat with water. The heat radiation is even more terrible. One time she and her colleagues checked the temperature of her seat. They were astonished with its result. The temperature was over 60 degrees Celsius.

Doctor Nguyen Ba Hung, working for the Community Health Research Development Institute (CHDI), advised that although there was no statistical data showing the harmful effect of seats on testicle development, the male genitals should avoid contact with temperatures that are much higher than the human body temperature. Sperm production will be limited if it’s higher than 34.5-35.5 degrees Celsius.

However, the harmful effect is not considerable if men do not make contact with high temperatures regularly and for long periods of time but they are advised to cool off their seat before sitting on it in hot weather.

Doctor Le Anh Tuan, Vice Director of the Central Obstetrics Hospital said that female reproductive ability will be affected less than that of males. Female genitalia contact with high temperature can cause gynecological diseases.

According to experts, in summers you should choose comfortable underwear to protect your privates from high temperature and bacteria.
