Khuyen hoc & Dan Tri Bridge, which will allow safe passage over Po Ko River, began construction on June 27. There is a sense of great joy among local people and children along the river.

Just two weeks after the situation was reported, VND1.2 billion ($62,353) in donations were raised. Funds raised for the bridge that aren\'t used for construction will serve as a contingency fund.

On behalf of Kon Tum province authorities, A Nhoi gave a sincere thank-you to the Fund of Vietnam Association for Promoting Education, DTiNews/DanTri online newspaper and compassionate individuals as well as organisations for their support and contributions.

A Huong, an 8th grader of Ngo Quyen Secondary School felt very happy and shared, “I am living on this side of the river but my school is on the other side. During dry seasons, if I cross the river carefully, water is up to my knees. In case I slip, I will get wet. Once the bridge is built, it will only be 3km from my house to school, it used to be 10 km. I hope the bridge will be done for the new school-year.”

Ka Ba To, Chairman of the Kon Tum Province Association for Promoting Education said, “The project demonstrates care and support from leaders of the province, the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education and kind-hearted donors to people and children of Dak Ang Commune. The provincial Association for Promoting Education promises to directly supervise construction of the bridge to ensure its progress, timeline and quality.”

As part of the event, the Fund of Vietnam Association for Promoting Education and Kon Tum Province Association for Promoting Education granted 60 scholarships (each one is worth VND200,000) to needy pupils with excellent study results in Dak Ang Commune.

In addition, Prudential Vietnam Life Insurance Company in Tay Nguyen gave each of them a school bag worth VND100,000 ($5.2).

Attending the ground-breaking ceremony were A Nhoi, Standing Vice Chairman of the People’s Council of Kon Tum Province; Thao Hong Son, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ngoc Hoi District; Assoc. Prof. PhD. Luong Ngoc Toan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education; Ka Ba To, Chairman of the Kon Tum Province Association for Promoting Education; Pham Huy Hoan, Executive Member of Central Committee of Vietnam Association for Promoting Education, Director of the Fund of Vietnam Association for Promoting Education cum Editor-in-Chief for DTiNews & DanTri online newspaper and Doan Thanh Tung, Chief Representative of Prudential Vietnam Life Insurance Company in Tay Nguyen on behalf of sponsors.
