Blazing days in Hanoi

The streets of Hanoi lately resemble being put into a BBQ pit as prolonged heat waves show no sign of easing.

The streets of Hanoi lately resemble being put into a BBQ pit.

The prolonged heat waves over the past few days, accompanied with recent power cuts, seem to have driven people out of their minds. People everywhere are appearing sluggish and fatigued and unable to cope with the heat.

Many have attempted various ways to protect themselves from the sun’s fierce glare but hats and long-sleeved jackets can only shield and do not make it any easier for them to cope with the intense heat. Some people still have to expose themselves directly under the sun due to the nature of their jobs.

The power that was recently been cut for extended periods without any notice or announcement has only added to people’s frustration over the hot weather.

The pictures below were captured during days that the highest temperature was measured to be over 40 degrees (43 degrees Celsius on June 16) in Hanoi.
