Senior Lieutenant-Colonel Nguyen Truong Ha, Deputy Chief of Police in Dam Doi District, Ca Mau Province, said that the case of tortured child Nguyen Hao Anh has been transferred to the Supreme People's Procuracy as of May 12, in which Huynh Thanh Giang and Ma Ngoc Thom will be prosecuted for their crimes of "intentionally causing injuries" and "torture".

Besides Giang and Thom, the police department said in a statement that their employees Luu Van Khanh and Lam Ly Quynh will also be prosecuted for their crime of "torture".
According to results from police investigators in Dam Doi District, since August 2009, shrimp farming couple Giang, Thom and their two staff had inflicted pain and tortured Nguyen Hao Anh over 20 times.
The health examination results showed that the rate of injuries inflicted on Hao Anh is 66.83%, this number is used according to Vietnamese law to aid in sentencing. 66% is an extremely serious rate, punishable by jail.
In addition, police have determined that drugs did not play a role in Giang and Thom's mistreatment of Hao Anh.
Currently, Hao Anh is receiving injury treatment at the Police Clinic of Ca Mau Province and recovering well.
