The People’s Committee of Hanoi requested that the Ministry of Defense assist the city in building a floating bridge over Duong River for resolving traffic issues during the Duong Bridge’s repair.

Officials from the Vietnam People’s Army Sapper Service under the Ministry of Defense confirmed this information with DTiNews recently.
Major General Duong Duc Hoa from the Vietnam People’s Army Sapper Service said, “Hanoi plans to repair the Duong Bridge and sent an official document requesting the Ministry of Defense to coordinate in building a floating bridge, which will ease traffic flow on Duong Bridge.”
Currently, there is no official announcement on when the floating bridge will be built or when Duong Bridge will be fixed. However, according to a private news source of DTiNews, site checking of the floating bridge has been completed and working forces as well as facilities are ready to go ahead.
Colonel Tran Hong Minh from the Vietnam People’s Army Sapper Service said, “The floating bridge over Duong River will cover 250-300 metres and work within 175 days. There will be nearly 100 sappers who will take the duties at this time.”
“Our sappers are waiting for official instructions from the Ministry of Defense. Our working force, facilities and military equipment are ready to complete our mission at any moment.” added Minh.
Earlier, the Vietnam People’s Army Sapper Service had successfully completed their mission and maintained the floating bridge at Chem Pier for over 5 months during the time Thang Long Bridge was repaired. It helped to ensure traffic safety at Hanoi’s gateway.
