A man wearing a mask, armed with a gun and a knife walked into a Maritime Bank branch in Hanoi and got away with VND90 million.

The robbery took place at a Maritime Bank outlet on De La Thanh Street at about noon. Witnesses said it was lunch break, so there were only 3 employees in and no customers around. The robber broke in and threatened the bank's employees with a gun. As soon as one of them attempted to hit the alarm button, he pulled out a knife and made more threats.

The staffers tried everything they could to buy time and caused anguish to the robber. However, he still managed to take away about VND90 million ($4,700) in cash.

Because he was wearing a mask, the staffers could not identify him nor estimate his age.

According to a statement from Maritime Bank, they have handed over security surveillance footage of the incident to the police for their investigation.
