Secretary of Hoan Kiem District, Mr. Hoang Cong Khoi reported that the district's police haven been assigned to investigate scamming problems around Hoan Kiem Lake and will absolutely hand out proper disciplinary action to all subjects involved.

Speaking with a DTiNews reporter, Mr. Khoi said that immediately after the article "Scam artists target tourists" was published on the DTiNews website, the district's authorities began investigating the matter and reported it back to the Chairman of Hoan Kiem District's People's Committee.

"We will not let this matter continue or get out of hand. All subjects that are involved in scamming tourists will be properly punished," emphasised Mr. Khoi.

The story and photos in the article "Scam artists target tourists" recounted that a group of women have been gathering in the area of Hoan Kiem Lake and pretending to be street vendors. Their aim is to get friendly with foreign tourists before playing tricks to dupe them out of their cash.
