The 18th VietKings Meeting saw three amazing records among 32 prizes this year. They are the biggest block calendar in Vietnamese history, the thickest encyclopedia about women of Vietnam and the world, and a singing duo.
The programme was held by the Vietnam Record Book Center at Binh Quoi 2 Resort on March 27. Attending the event were Former Vice President Truong My Hoa, historian Duong Trung Quoc, lawyer Nguyen Van Vien - Head of the Vietnam Intellectual Property Research Institute and many other guests.
Truong My Hoa participated in the event not only as a guest, but also a representative for the editing council of “Amanach, mother and beautiful women” published in 1990 with nearly 3,000 pages. The book is considered as the thickest encyclopedia about women of Vietnam and the world. Amanach talked about woman’s class throughout the world including Vietnamese women and their best contributions to social life.
There are 20 prizes for individuals among 32 records. There was also a performance by singing duet Nguyen Thi Hang, 32 and Nguyen Thi Ha, 22 who look like 7-8 year old girls.
Despite the age difference of 10 years, they look like twins. Sharing about their daily life, Hang and Ha said that all personal activities were as normal as other people however they eat only about half of what a normal adult would.
In addition, audiences could enjoy a very interesting performance by Tran Minh Thiem, 74 who kept going around in circles on the stage for over 10 minutes without feeling any dizziness.
Thiem said that When he was 20, he saw an ice skating performance from Europe where people could circle amazingly, his passion suddenly came up. He practiced it daily. At the beginning he circled for 50 times then 100 then thousands.
“Beginners should practice little by little in the evening before sleeping time. They should not do in the morning if they don’t want to get dizzy for whole day,” added Thiem.
The biggest block calendar weighing 800 kg covers Vietnamese history to celebrate the 1,000 year anniversary of Hanoi (Thang Long) also made its name into the record book. The calendar will be on auction and the raised money will be used for charity.
